If Superstar Rajnikanth had a resume, his work experience would probably go like this: "Breaking bad guys' heads in 1989, breaking the internet in 2019."

After all, who else can gain 25,000 followers on Twitter with just a single tweet? This notwithstanding the fact that he already had 10,000 followers just by joining the platform, without any tweet, back in 2014.

His tweets continue to garner thousands of likes and retweets, today.

Last Sunday (Aug 18) marked 44 years since the charismatic actor, whose real name is Sivaji Rao Gaekwad, first appeared in late director K Balachander's Apoorva Raagangal, which also featured Kamal Hassan.

Since then, Rajnikanth, who is fondly known as "Thalaivar", has not looked back and has gone from strength to strength, quite literally.

His life journey has been quite remarkable - from being a bus conductor, to a struggling actor who mainly played negative roles, to ultimately become a one-man army, he has done it all.

Today, Rajnikanth can boast of having a fan base of those aged in their 40s, right down to preschoolers, who are still being entertained by his latest projects.

Rajnikanth's fans are taking to Twitter to flood the platform with their wishes to their favourite star, with hashtags like #44YearsOfRajinismCDP and #44YearsOfUnmatchableRajinism.

He will next be seen in director AR Murugadoss' Darbar, which is slated for Ponggal release next year.

Here's wishing Thalaivar many more entertaining years in the industry!
