India To Offer 300 Tertiary Scholarships To Malaysian Students

India is offering full scholarships to 300 Malaysian students to pursue their tertiary education in various fields there.

According to Education Minister Maszlee Malik, this was conveyed to him by India's Human Resource Development Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, at the sidelines of the 40th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). 

The offer would cover 200 scholarshops under the Study in India programme for Malaysian undergraduates to study in various fields in India, while the remaining 100 slots will be for post-graduate students to pursue Information Technology. 

"India not only wants to renew Malaysia-India cooperaion in the field of higher education, but have more collaborations as well," Maszlee was quoted telling Bernama after attending the meeting. 

Besides, Maszlee said that Azerbaijan Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has also expressed keen interest to send Azerbaijani students to pursue their undergraduate studies in Malaysia, and explore further collaborations after being attracted by the "comprehensive and holistic" Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025.
