NGO Seeks Books' Sponsorship For Needy Tamil School Students

  • 16 Feb 2020

A non-governmental organisation (NGO) is seeking sponsorship of books for Tamil school students from underprivileged families in Kedah.

Pertubuhan Pendidikan Membangun Bersama Bahasa Tamil assistant secretary T Kogila Vani said the sponsorship will benefit students of about 20 schools in Gurun, Bedong, and even Sungai Petani.

"We are looking for sponsorship of activity books for pupils in Standards 4, 5, and 6, particularly the latter, as they will be taking their Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination this year.

"The books retail at RM62.00 for a set of 5," Kogila Vani told Astro Ulagam.

Those interested can donate to the NGO's account in Maybank, bearing the account number 512679312655.

The NGO, which is in its 10th year of establishment, will purchase the books and deliver them directly to the students involved. Alternatively, the sponsors can also deliver the books to the students.

Previously, the NGO had sponsored tuition lessons for Tamil school students, and even facilitated the opening of savings accounts at banks, for the students.

Those interested to contribute, or have any queries regarding the donation drive can contact Kogila Vani at 012-5265143, or the NGO's treasurer Usha Devi at 017-6081743.
