Teenager Jumps To Her Death After Boyfriend Threatens to Viral Her Private Photos

  • 12 Aug 2020

A 17-year-old girl leapt to her death after being threatened by her "boyfriend" to have her private photos uploaded onto the internet.

According to the New Straits Times, the incident unfolded in Georgetown on Monday morning when the girl's mother answered a call from the 20-year-old male suspect.

She chastised him and warned him to cease all links with her daughter. The suspect then hurled profanities at the woman and threatened to post her daughter's private photos on social media, before abruptly cutting the line.

The teenager, scared over the threat, then jumped off the 22nd floor of her condominium.

Police later arrested the suspect from Kuala Kangsar, Perak, and found explicit photos of other women stored in his mobile phone.

Penang police chief Sahabudin Abd Manan said the suspect's modus operandi is deceiving victims he befriends over Facebook into giving him money or having sex with him. If they refuse to give in to his advances or want to end the relationship, he would threaten to release their doctored photographs on the internet.

Cases against him have been reported in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, and Perak, he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a woman by word, through sound, gesture or exhibits any objects, intentionally.
