Woman Warms Netizens' Hearts By Sheltering Senior Citizen From Scorching Heat

If kindness, unity, and harmony can be fit into one photograph, this would be it (see photo above).

A tudung-clad Malay woman is going viral on social media for her kindness in providing shelter to an elderly Indian woman, from the sweltering heat while queuing up outside a bank in Ipoh, Perak.

The photograph was shared by Facebook user Privitha Maimaran on her Facebook page yesterday afternoon and has since gone viral, with over 30,000 likes, more than 19,000 shares and 1,500 plus comments (as of the time this article was written).

In the accompanying caption, Privitha wrote: "On behalf of my grandmother & family... I would like to this opportunity to thank the Malay lady who was holding a file in her hand (and) was protecting my grandmother from the hot sun, while they was (sic) waiting outside the bank for a long time. The reason why I'm sharing this, during this period, still there is people outside (sic) there who never differentiate among racists (sic) and respect elders from different races."

On behalf of my grandmother & family😊....I would like to take this opportunity to thank the malay lady who was holding...

Netizens have unanimously praised the kind woman for caring across racial and religious divide, and respecting the elderly.

Many have opined that the picture portrays the real Malaysia, and racially-charged sentiments are usually raised by politicians for their own gain.

Kudos indeed. If only all Malaysians can be as caring and noble as the Malay "kakak", the country will indeed be a better place.
