Police have detained a woman and her brother for allegedly killing her blind husband to inherit his millions worth of fortune, and trying to stage the incident as a robbery gone wrong.

Harian Metro reported that the 45-year-old suspect had told the police that her 59-year-old husband was injured after robbers snatched his chain in front of their house in Kampung Baru Sungai Chua, on Oct 1.

The victim, who is blind but runs a scrap metal and transport business, succumbed to serious injuries to his head, while being treated at the Kajang Hospital, on Oct 10.

The police suspected something amiss and upon digging, they found that the victim's wife had worked in cahoots with her 42-year-old younger brother to kill the victim for his fortune, estimated to be around RM2 million, and his life insurance policy worth RM800,000.

Both suspects were picked up last Saturday and are expected to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code (for murder), read together with Section 34 of the same act, at the Kajang Magistrate's court tomorrow.
